Graduates with a Pass to the University of Tokyo Library System
Graduates of the University of Tokyo who hold a Pass to the University of Tokyo Library System (hereinafter referred to as “Entrance Pass”) may use the Library of Economics without making an advance reservation. Please note that you need to make a reservation to use microform materials.
Using Stack Materials
Most of the Library of Economics’ materials are in the stacks.
To browse stack materials, complete the Stack Materials Request Form and present it, along with your Entrance Pass, at the circulation desk. The staff will then retrieve the requested materials from the stacks.
Hours
- Weekdays, 9:00 a.m. – 11:50 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Saturdays, 12:00 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.
Required Information for Retrieval
- Call number
- Title of material
- Volume, issue, and year of publication for journals
* Any format that includes the information above is acceptable.
Issuance and Renewal of the Entrance Pass (for Graduates of the Graduate School and the Faculty of Economics)
Please apply at the Library of Economics circulation desk.

New Issuance
- Certificate of Graduation or Completion
Please bring an original of one of the following:
– Certificate of Graduation
– Certificate of Completion
– Certificate of Withdrawal with Credits
– Certificate of Academic Degree - Official identification with your name and address (e.g., driver’s license, Individual Number Card)
Renewal
- Your Entrance Pass
- Official identification with your name and address (e.g., driver’s license, Individual Number Card)
Graduates of the University of Tokyo who are not affiliated with the Graduate School or the Faculty of Economics should consult the General Library.
Graduates of the Graduate School of Economics
Please apply for a Stack Entering Card (書庫利用票) if you wish to enter the Library of Economics’ stacks to browse materials after graduation. You can also borrow three books for two weeks with a Book Checkout Card (図書帯出票). To obtain this card, you need a recommendation from the faculty of the Graduate School of Economics and approval from the Library Director.

Graduates without an Entrance Pass
If you wish to use the Library of Economics’ materials, please make a reservation at least three opening days (excluding Saturday opening days and holiday opening days) before your preferred date. For more information, please refer to the For Visitors page.
