Book/Photocopy Delivery from Libraries Outside the University of Tokyo (For Members of the Graduate School and the Faculty of Economics)

You can request delivery of books or photocopies of materials that are not available at the University of Tokyo libraries from other libraries. A fee is charged.

How to Apply

Applying through MyOPAC

Pre-application is required to use MyOPAC fee-based services.
Please apply at the Library of Economics circulation desk.

  1. Log in to MyOPAC
  2. Search for books you need via UTokyo OPAC.
  3. Click the “Reserve” button displayed on the material’s OPAC search results page and follow the on-screen instructions.

Applying at the Circulation Desk

Please apply at the Library of Economics circulation desk during opening hours.
The following information is required:

  • Title of material
  • Volume, issue, and year of publication (if necessary)

Approximate Delivery Time and Fees

Delivery time depends on the location of the material or the number of copies.

From University Libraries in Japan

Approximate Delivery Time

3 to 5 days after application, except on Saturdays and when the library is closed

Fee
  • Photocopy: About 30-60 yen per sheet plus, postage, handling fees
  • Book: Round-trip postage (about 500-1,500 yen) plus, handling fees
  • The library will notify you by email about fees and payment methods when your materials arrive. Please pay using the designated method and submit a document proving your payment to the Library of Economics circulation desk.

From National Diet Library

Even if the materials you need are not available in Japan, delivery from British Library or overseas university libraries may be an option.
Please ask at the Library of Economics circulation desk 9:00 a.m. – 11:50 a.m. and 12:50 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, except when the library is closed. You can also contact the Library of Economics’ Service Section.
