Writing about Keynes "I can quite believe that he made ten or twenty thousand pounds by
that remarkable, and in many ways brilliant, and instructive book published immediately after
the first Great war. An old City friend of mine says that he burnt his fingers in the City soon
afterwards, and I knew people who had lost money in one of his ventures....
"....K is believed to have made most of his fortune by speculations in American securities
and real estate. At one time I knew him pretty well and his intimate Cambridge friends. They
always said he was very fond of gambling..."
